Good Bye Andre the Giant

Andre the Giant died of a heart attack at the age of 46 on January 27, 1993. He passed away shortly after his father died in his home country of France.

Andre the Giant is known for being one of the biggest wrestlers in the history of Wrestling. He came from the French Alps to the WWE in the late 1970's and quickly gained a following. Although he never won the WWE Heavyweight Championship, he did have many classic matches against the likes of Big John Studd, Hulk Hogan and Demolition, winning the Tag Team titles from them with Haku. A classic moment people remember him from is him choking sportscaster Bob Eukre at WrestleMania III. He was last seen on TV at WrestleMania VII using a cane.

It has already been ten years since the Giant passed away, but his memory will live on forever. He was the first inductee of the WWE Hall of Fame. He can be seen in the movie "Princess Bride," which is available on DVD and VHS and on cable regularly. Andre came in second place in the pWw 1999 Slammys for Wrester of the Century (losing to Bret Hart).
