Backstage:
Eric Bischoff was shown backstage with The Coach and Eric Bischoff told him that
he looks like he's ready but he has to point out one thing. Eric has done his
job and got rid of William Regal; he will not be at ringside. So The Coach has
to get rid of Eugene once and for all. The Coach told Eric not to worry about
it, it's done. Eric said that he's sick and tired of Eugene, he's an
embarrassment and tonight, he wants Coach to get rid of him. Coach started to
leave but then he came back and pointed out something to Eric Bischoff. Coach
laughed but Eric didn't seem too happy. Eugene showed up and he looked to be
upset. Eric asked what the problem is? How much of that did he hear? Eugene
sadly said "You don't like me, Uncle Eric." Eric tried to explain that's not
what he said. Uncle Eric is just trying to protect him. Look at it this way; who
is Eugene's favorite wrestler? Triple H. Does Eugene remember when he broke that
big muscle in his leg and couldn't walk? That could happen to Eugene. Eugene
said his legs are fine, he can walk. Eric said he knows that, but how about
Chris Benoit? He broke his neck. That could happen to Eugene and he doesn't want
that to happen. Eric said he's going to give Eugene a choice; call off the match
and Eugene can get on an airplane and tell all of his friends that he was in the
WWE. Or he can go out there tonight and wrestle. What's it going to be? Eugene
happily said that he wants to wrestle! He can wrestle!

Backstage:
Todd Grisham was shown with Randy Orton and Todd said it's obviously a huge
night for Randy Orton and Evolution because later tonight, Randy defends the
Intercontinental Title. Randy interrupted Todd, asking him what tomorrow marks?
Tomorrow marks the half year anniversary that he has been the Intercontinental
Champion. He has had the longest reign of anyone in the last seven years and he
left Mick Foley in a pool of his own blood. He beat him at his own game.
Granted, Shelton Benjamin is a better athlete than Mick Foley but there is
something that Shelton Benjamin doesn't have that Randy has and that is
greatness. Randy took exception to the fans, asking if they're booing him
because he's done more than anyone in that arena at his age, so don't test him
because he will come out there. The fans continued to boo and Randy Orton told
the camera man to follow him because he is going out to the arena. Randy said
that if the fans want to boo him, he'll come out early and they can have it
their way. Get a look at greatness. Randy told the fans that you're looking at
the man that ended Mick Foley's career and spit in Mick Foley's face. The fans
have their jobs and sure they work hard for that raise and work hard to become
the employee of the month. That's greatness to them but the Intercontinental
Title is real greatness and you're looking at real greatness. That's just his
point; there are millions of people like the fans out there. And that's his
point is that Randy Orton is one in a million. Randy Orton went through the
crowd to get to the ring and he said that greatness has entered the ring and the
fans may now bow. About his match with Shelton Benjamin, Randy Orton wants the
respect that he deserves from each and every one of them. He wants them to stand
up on their feet and respect Randy Orton because he is Randy Orton and he is the
living legend. Randy Orton got on the ropes and he said as well as the
Intercontinental Champion, thank you very much.

building that gives a damn about what he has to say. But since Randy Orton is

Lita was shown in her locker room warming up for tonight and Matt showed up,
asking if she's ready. Lita said that she is. Nervous, but ready. Matt said that
tonight is going to be the night and Lita told Matt what she needs from him and
that's a kiss. Someone knocked on the door and the event staff entered the room
and Matt seemed upset, because this is a private female dressing room. Eric
Bischoff showed up, saying that his security staff is here to remove Lita's
boyfriend from the arena. Before he even starts, he knows Matt Hardy has no
intention of interfering in the World Title Match, but just to make sure, they
are going to escort him from the arena. Matt said that he is here to watch
Lita's match and Eric said that he's a fair guy. He can remove Lita from the
match, but that choice is up to Matt. Since the match is coming up next, Lita
has 60 seconds to make up her mind. Eric said that he'll be outside and not to
keep him waiting. Matt told Lita that he has to go and Lita didn't want him to
leave. Matt said he has to. He knows what the Women's Title means to her and he
knows she's going to win it and he doesn't want to stop that. She'll be fine.
Matt Hardy left the room and security escorted him out of the arena.

Shawn Michaels set Triple H on the stable and then he climbed onto the ladder in
the corner and jumped on the table through Triple H with a flying elbow drop,

crowd is chanting for HBK. Really? Deaf are we, JR?

The Aftermath:
It was noted by Jim Ross that the time in that match was: 47 minutes and 26
seconds. After the match, both Michaels and Triple H laid motionless on the mat
and Batista, Randy Orton and Ric Flair came out to the ring to attend to Triple
H. Batista and Flair helped Triple H to his feet and they walked him to the
back. Referee Michael Chioda remained in the ring with Shawn Michaels to check
on him and he looked to be way out of it. Michaels started showing some life and
the fans in attendance gave HBK a standing ovation as he had a hard time staying
on his feet. Shawn shook Michael Chioda's hand on a job well done.
