Raw is War

Charlotte, North Carolina
November 19, 2001

Less than 24 hours after the World Wrestling Federation triumphed over the Alliance in the “Winner Take All” match at Survivor Series, RAW kicked off from Charlotte, N.C.

Footage was shown of Mr. McMahon’s private jet landing in Charlotte earlier in the day. Mick Foley stepped inside the sleek jet and sat with Mr. McMahon. Mick asked the Federation Chairman to name a seat on the plane after him because of all the sacrifices he made for the company. Mr. McMahon suggested the “Dude Love toilet.” Mick told Mr.McMahon that he was resigning as commissioner of the Federation. But Vince smiled and said Mick couldn’t resign. He was about to tell Foley he was fired, but Mick cut him off and said to go ahead and fire him if it made him feel better. Foley abruptly turned and left, leaving Vince to say, “Take care, Mick, and have a nice day.”

After the opening fireworks, Jim Ross was shown at the commentator's table with an empty seat next to him. As J.R. was saying that he had no idea who would take Paul Heyman’s place, Mr. McMahon came to the ring. The Federation Chairman said that despite Foley’s resignation, tonight was a night for celebration because the Federation survived Survivor Series. Vince said he owed a debt of gratitude to one man who showed his true colors and who deserves to be honored: Kurt Angle.

It was because of Kurt Angle, Vince said, that WCW and ECW are dead. The only remnant of WCW still in existence, he stated, was the WCW Championship wrapped around The Rock’s waist. However, that title would now be known as the World Championship. Vince said there would be a lot of changes made on RAW, including some lucky person who would be joining the “Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club,” which was formed Monday morning. The club was founded so that one member of the Alliance who was seeking employment could have a job if he kissed Vince’s ass. Champions in the Alliance were excluded because they were already members of the Federation.

The new club, Vince said, was nothing compared to what would happen that night to the leader of the Alliance. With a devilish smile, Vince promised to execute his plan when Stone Cold Steve Austin arrived. Mr. McMahon then addressed the empty chair next to Jim Ross. To show he was a benevolent individual, Mr. McMahon asked Paul Heyman to come to the ring. The former ECW owner came out and took his usual place next to J.R. while screaming, “I got away with it!”

Mr. McMahon asked Paul to come into the ring. Vince said he liked people who spoke their mind. He said that he was okay with what Paul said last week because he was a big advocate of the First Amendment. In an exercise of his rights, Vince got in Paul’s face and hissed, “You’re fired!”

The crowd erupted and Paul Heyman angrily demanded a fight right there. Mr. McMahon whipped off his sports coat, which caused Heyman to flee the ring. He made his way toward the announce table where J.R. began assaulting his former sidekick! As security removed Heyman from the building, Mr. McMahon introduced J.R.'s new announce partner: Jerry “The King” Lawler!

The King made his way back to the familiar announce table to a deafening standing ovation. “It’s good to be the King, and the King is back!” Lawler said.

After the first break of the night, Trish Stratus defended her newly won Federation Women’s Championship against Lita. Nobody looked forward to this match more than The King, who was glad to see all his favorite puppies again!

Lita, escorted to the ring by Matt Hardy, climbed the top turnbuckle at one point to attempt a moonsault, but Trish pushed Lita to the hard mat outside the ring. The dazed Lita was scooped up by Matt Hardy and shoveled back into the ring where Trish covered her for the pin!

Backstage, the Dudley Boyz stood talking with other Alliance Champions when Mr. McMahon came in. Vince, clearly gloating over his win, reminded Rob Van Dam that the young superstar was invited to join the Federation several weeks ago. He told Rob Van Dam that he must like doing things the hard way, as he was the Hardcore Champion. Therefore, RVD would take part in a handicap tag-team table match against the Dudley Boyz next! D-Von asked if Mr. McMahon was serious. “Deadly serious,” replied Mr. McMahon.

Christian told Mr. McMahon that he was proud to be European Champion and happy to be working with him again. Vince didn’t buy the obvious brown-nosing and ordered Christian to get out of his sight.

RVD and the Dudleys grudgingly began their handicap tag-team table match. The Dudleys came to the ring with the Federation and WCW Tag Team Championships, as well as Stacy Keibler. The Dudleys tried to team up on RVD, but the Hardcore Champion’s unorthodox fighting style allowed him to fight off both opponents for a while. A vicious neckbreaker from D-Von made RVD see stars and allowed the tag champs to set up a table in the corner of the ring and another in the middle. RVD recovered, though, and knocked D-Von through the ropes. He then grabbed a chair from outside the ring and kicked it into Bubba Ray. D-Von came back into the ring and wound up sprawled on a table. RVD climbed the opposite turnbuckle and launched an amazing Five-Star Frog Splash the length of the ring and through the table! D-Von had avoided defeat by moving out of the way a split second before the wood shattered. RVD was left completely demolished. The Dudleys finished him off with a 3D through the second table.

Kurt Angle arrived at the arena and was greeted by a production assistant who asked how he was doing. Angle said he was responsible for everyone in the Federatino having jobs, so he was doing great! He asked where he could find The Rock after he received directions, he headed on his way.

Angle soon caught up with The Rock in the locker room and asked if the People’s Champion had anything to say. Kurt thought The Rock should say thank you for Angle’s help in the main event at Survivor Series. The Rock said that he would have pinned Stone Cold without Angle’s help. For one month, The Rock continued, Angle beat up on the Federation just so he could have his one selfish moment. “Well, yeah!” Angle said. Angle said it was worth it. The Rock then challenged Angle to beat him up that night in the ring. Angle accepted, as long as the World Championship was on the line. Angle said he was glad the Federation won so he could have a chance to get his hands on The Rock. The Rock replied that Angle may have everyone fooled with his milk-drinking, hero attitude, but the Great One would never trust Mr. McMahon or Kurt Angle because Kurt was “an asshole”!

Outside, Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley pulled up in their own car and wondered why their father wanted them at the arena. “Do you think he’s going to give us our jobs back?” Stephanie wondered. Shane shrugged his shoulders and the two set out into the stadium.

Mr. McMahon came back into the ring and said there was still a ton of business to be taken care of that night. He requested that his son and daughter join him in the ring without any music or fanfare. Shane and Stephanie walked down the entrance ramp arm in arm to a loud chorus of booing.

Vince said he was so proud to hear the arena calling his daughter a slut!

“What has happened to our family?,” Vince asked. He said that before he gave his children a piece of his mind, he would let his kids speak first. Shane congratulated his father for winning the sports-entertainment battle. “I lost to the better man,” Shane admitted. With his head hung in shame, Shane O’Mac crawled through the ropes and left the arena.

Now it was Stephanie’s turn. She cried that she was young and made mistakes. She said her biggest mistake was listening to her brother Shane would convinced her to go against her father after purchasing WCW. It was Shane, Stephanie said, who told her to slap their mother on SmackDown! several weeks ago. “And dad, when I told you I wanted you to die, that was all Shane’s idea too!” Stephanie whined.

Stephanie claimed that the only thing Shane told the truth about was what he just uttered moments ago. Vince was the better man. The Billion-Dollar Princess said that her father was a genius. Stephanie stared at her father with big, blue puppy-dog eyes and whined that she was sorry. Vince took back the microphone and called for security to take “this woman” out of the ring! “Say goodbye to daddy’s little girl!” Mr. McMahon growled.

After a break, Vince was telling someone through his cell phone that he literally meant that any Alliance member who wanted to kiss his ass would have a job.

Chris Jericho came in and was asked why he attacked The Rock at Survivor Series. Y2J said that his ego got the best of him and he apologized smugly. Mr. McMahon said that he didn’t like guys with big egos. If he had a massive ego, though, Vince was ok with that. Tonight then, Mr. McMahon ordered Y2J to but his massive ego in the ring against Kane!

With star Mr. T cheering from ringside, The Rock came out to defend the World Championship against Kurt Angle. The Rock started out by pummeling Angle before the Olympic Hero tossed the champ through the ring ropes. Angle now controlled the match. He brought The Rock back inside the ring and choked him on the middle rope. He slammed The Rock with several belly to back suplexes and got a two-count. Angle then climbed to the top turnbuckle to prepare a moonsault but The Rock got up and forced Angle to lose his balance. Angle splashed to the mat after a superplex from The Rock. The Great One launched a series of right hands to Angle’s face then hit a DDT! Angle managed to avoid the pin, however. But he took a spinebuster and almost suffered a Rock Bottom. Angle turned things around and delivered an Angle Slam to The Rock. The People’s Champion then found himself in the Ankle Lock! He writhed in pain but craftily got Angle rolled into a pin that ended the match and caused the crowd to go berzerk!

But Angle wasn’t done. He immediately sprang up and beat on The Rock. But the Great One scooped Angle up into a Rock Bottom!

Suddenly, Y2J stormed down and pounded on The Rock! Angle latched on the Ankle Lock and Y2J but the champion in the Walls of Jericho for good measure.

Once again, Mr. McMahon took center stage in Charlotte. Vince told the crowd to get their cameras ready because this would be a Kodak moment. It was time to find out who from the Alliance would join the “Vince McMahon Kiss My Ass Club.” With that, Vince called out former Alliance Commissioner William Regal! Regal sauntered down the ring with a glum look. Regal said that he would do whatever menial tasked Mr. McMahon assigned. Vince said William misunderstood: he literally wanted William to kiss his ass! And if he didn’t want the chance, their were a whole bunch of Alliance guys who would. Regal paused, closed his eyes and choked out a “yes.”

Mr. McMahon took his jacket off, motioned behind him and told Regal to get on his knees. Regal slowly got down on his knee and eyes Mr. McMahon’s backside. “Oh wait, it gets better than that,” Mr. McMahon said. He unbuckled his pants and dropped his slack to reveal his boxers. “Oh no wait, it gets better than that,” Mr. McMahon said. “ He pulled down his boxers to William Regal’s astonishment. He handed Regal some Chapstick and said nobody with chapped lips would kiss his ass. Regal applied the ointment as ordered, then slowly, unwillingly lowered his lips and smooched Mr. McMahon’s ass! Mr.

McMahon pulled up his slacks with a satisfied smile on his face as Regal spat on his way up the entrance ramp!

Backstage, Regal pushed away and screamed at some stagehands who snickered at him. He then met face to face with Tazz and screamed at him. “What a kiss ass!” Tazz said. Regal responded by smacking Tazz repeatedly.

Chris Jericho and Kane squared off next. The Big Red Machine immediately gained control thanks to his overpowering strength. But Jericho’s skill and quickness served him well. He landed a Lionsault on Kane then left the ring to grab a steel chair. But Kane kicked the weapon out of his opponent’s hands! Kane whipped slammed Jericho to the mat then mounted the top turnbuckle. He leapt toward Y2J, but Jericho grabbed the steel chair and smacked it onto Kane’s head! The match ended with a disqualification, but Y2J but the Big Red Machine in the Walls of Jericho following the match. He let go, but then locked Kane into the submission move once again before making his exit.

Backstage, Angle fumed about his loss and how nobody showed any appreciation for his work at Survivor Series. He confronted Edge and demanded some respect. Edge pointed out his Federation Intercontinental Championship and WCW United States Championship and said he saved his own job. He said that Kurt only did what he did Sunday out of concern for his own well being. Edge walked away leaving Angle even more furious.

William Regal reappeared in the ring to take on Tazz, who had taken a few shots from the former commissioner earlier in the evening. Regal, still seething from being besmirched earlier in the evening, put Tazz in the Regal Stretch and earned the submission.

Kurt Angle sulked in the locker room when Mr. McMahon came in and asked what was the matter. Angle complained about losing to The Rock and to not receiving any gratitude from the Federation Superstars. Mr. McMahon said he would thank Angle. He produced the World Wrestling Federation Championship and asked how Angle would like to become the next holder of the title. Angle brightened and naturally said he’d love it. Vince slipped the title over his shoulder and told Angle to follow him to the ring.

After a break, Vince and Kurt arrived in the ring. Mr. McMahon thanked Kurt Angle on behalf of everyone in the arena. Like it or not, Mr. McMahon told the crowd, he is your hero. He also said that Stone Cold decided to be typical Stone Cold and not show up the night after being defeated. Vince said Stone Cold could stay where he was because the Federation needed Kurt Angle as its champion. Mr. McMahon hopes Austin would have been in the arena to be stripped of the Federation Championship, but instead he was about to give the title to Angle.

Suddenly, a familiar theme song stopped Vince from talking. Out from beneath the TitanTron emerged sports-entertainment legend Ric Flair!

The crowd cheered wildly for the Charlotte native as the Nature Boy entered the ring. Vince asked for an explanation as to why Flair was standing in the ring. Flair said that he was there because he bet on a winner last night. He told Angle that this was no way to win the Federation Championship and that he should win like a man. He then revealed that when Shane and Stephanie sold their stock to the consortium, the consortium was him! Ric Flair and Shane McMahon were the partners that owned the World Wrestling Federation!

The sound of breaking glass echoed throughout the arena as Stone Cold methodically strolled into the ring and assaulted first Kurt Angle then Mr. McMahon. Austin threw both men from the ring. Austin stood face to face with Ric Flair, who had the Federation Championship on his shoulder. Austin slowly reached over and took the title while a devilish smile crept onto Flair’s face. Beers flew into the ring and Austin and the Nature Boy toasted their newfound friendship as RAW faded to a close!
