Smackdown!

New Haven, Connecticut
May 11, 2000

From New Haven, Conn., SmackDown! began with Gerald Brisco addressing the Dudleys, who stood listening in the center of the ring, Brisco bragged about how he put Buh Buh Ray through a table on RAW. He explained that he did what he did because he's an advocate of women's rights. Then he introduced the Dudleys' opponents: T & A, and the return of Trish Stratus! Before the match began, out came Shane McMahon, overwhelmed with Brisco's sentiments. Shane acknowledged that one of the Dudleys' victims could have been his sister, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, and that he's proud to stand by his friend and hero, Gerald Brisco! The two then embraced.

In the ring, the seething Buh Buh Ray and D-Von got it on with Test and Albert. Trish attempted to get involved in the action, but was grabbed by Buh Buh Ray. Albert attempted a save, but Buh Buh Ray moved out of the way and Albert's momentum knocked Trish off the apron and into the arms of Brisco. The Dudleys then hit 3-D on Albert and had the match won, or so it seemed. Shane pulled the referee out of the ring as he was about to make the three count. With the referee distracted, Test hit his flying elbow on Buh Buh Ray to get the win for T & A. The Big Show came out and was about to chokeslam Shane, but Test made the save and suffered a chokeslam for his efforts. The Big Show destroyed everything in his path in search of Shane, who was able to escape to the backstage area.

The Godfather made his way down the ramp with four of New Haven's finest hos for his Intercontinental Title match against champion Chris Benoit. Though the Godfather put up a good fight, Benoit's brute skill was too much. The Crippler avoided a splash from the second rope and locked on the Crippler Crossface to force the pimp to tap out.

Michael Cole interviewed Benoit after the match, implying that Chris Jericho did not tap out on RAW. Benoit admitted it didn't look like Jericho gave up, nor did he hear the words, "I quit," but he guaranteed all the Jerichoholics that Jericho did not tap out or say "I quit" because he was in too much pain to do so. Benoit then offered Jericho a shot at the Intercontinental Title at Judgment Day, in a Submission Match. Minutes later, Jericho and Benoit had to be separated while brawling in the parking area.

Out came the McMahon-Helmsley regime, flanked by D-Generation X. With pride and joy, Pat Patterson showed everyone his version of stinky face, from RAW, on the Titan Tron. Patterson then announced he was granted permission to book a match: a six-man elimination tag team match featuring X-Pac, Road Dogg and Triple H versus Too Cool and Rikishi.

On the subject of match making, Shane, after mocking the Big Show's pursuit of him, ordered Show to take on the Dudleys in a handicap, Tag Team Table Match

Chyna was up first against Malenko, his Light Heavyweight Championship on the line. Guerrero arrived to get a ringside view. During the match, Michael Cole speculated that Chyna played an influential role in the breakup of the Radicalz. After Malenko pulled the referee in the way of Chyna's attempted backflip splash, Saturn attacked Guerrero. It looked as if Saturn was then going to put away Malenko, but he mysteriously turned his attention toward Chyna and executed a brainbuster. Malenko covered Chyna for the win to retain his title.

The Big Boss Man and Bull Buchanan entered a local bar, took away two seats from a couple of poor patrons and splashed beer on them. Back at the arena, Edge and Christian accommodated a young fan's request for an autograph, but demanded $5 in return. Another fan's request for a picture was honored, for $10, and with the cocky Tag Team Champions blocking the fan out of the shot

It was then time for Edge and Christian's obligatory pose for a picture. Christian said that although some guys in the back don't appreciate them, there is one man who shows them the respect they deserve, Kurt Angle! The former Olympian confessed that there was more to Canada than maple syrup and Michael J. Fox, and said that the tag champs are roll models to everyone. Angle, Edge and Christian teamed up for a match against Chris Jericho and the Hardy Boyz. As expected, the match was non-stop action personified. Benoit intervened and knocked down Jericho. Christian thought he had the match won after an Edge spear on Jericho, but Y2J kicked out before going after Benoit. Jeff Hardy hit a Swanton Bomb on Angle, but Christian nailed Matt with the ring bell behind the ref's back to get the win. Afterwards, Angle and Benoit double-teamed Jericho under the Titan Tron.

New Hardcore Champion the British Bulldog made his first defense after winning the belt at Insurrextion against Hardcore Holly. Both competitors used the usual arrangement of hardware at ringside, including a toolbox and a fire hydrant. Out of nowhere came out Crash Holly, who hit cousin Hardcore and the Bulldog with a trash can lid to recapture the Hardcore Title! Hardcore Holly took his frustrations out on the Bulldog after the match.

Back at the local bar, Bull and Boss Man took exception to a patron who said that they ran from the Acolytes on RAW.

Competing in their second match of the evening, the Dudleys took on the Big Show in a Table Match, and Shane came out to grab a look. After Show set up a table and placed Buh Buh Ray on top of it, D-Von prevented Show from ending the match and hit 3-D through the table to get the win. Shane pounded on the fallen 500-pounder until the Dudleys set up another table with the intention of putting Shane through it. X-Pac and Road Dogg came to help Shane and left the Dudley Boyz laying, but not before Tori got in a few slaps on both D-Von and Buh Buh Ray.

At the APA office, Faarooq showed Bradshaw footage of the Boss Man and Bull were at the bar. Both men decided it was time for a drink.

Perry Saturn got a shot at his first taste of Federation gold against European Champion Eddie Guerrero. Saturn had Dean Malenko at ringside; things apparently patched up between the two. Saturn was in complete control, hitting Guerrero with a flying elbow. After the champion kicked out, Malenko argued with the referee, allowing Chyna to hit Saturn with a lead pipe hidden in a bouquet of roses.

The APA arrived at the bar to confront the Boss Man and Bull, who attacked Faarooq and Bradshaw. The APA, though, got the better of the two, and a few unlucky patrons that got in the way.

Up next was the main event, six-man elimination tag team match. Scotty Too Hotty was the first to go, eliminated by X-Pac's X-Factor. Grandmaster Sexay was put away moments later with a Triple H Pedigree, leaving Rikishi to face three members of DX. Rikishi backed his butt up into all three men - and the referee. An X-Pac low blow finally swung the advantage to DX. X-Pac hit his bronco buster and had things in control until the Dudleys 3-Ded both the Road Dogg and X-Pac. Rikishi sat on both men and pinned them, leaving him one-on-one against "The Game." Triple H knocked Rikishi down to the apron, leaving him open for Patterson to rub his underwear in his face, or a Patterson put it, "Skid Row." But Rikishi dragged Patterson in the ring and stuffed Patterson's drawers in Triple H's mouth! Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley came to the aid of her husband, but she would be cornered and in position for a "stinky face." After giving Patterson that very maneuver, Rikishi made an unconscious Stephanie his next target. But a Triple H low blow and Pedigree ended the match and gave DX the win. Stephanie regained consciousness, shaken up, but relieved and in the arms of her husband.
