CRASHING THE PARTY
FEB. 24, 2005
Chief of Staff Orlando Jordan organized an elegant Celebration of Excellence Thursday for his boss and WWE Champion JBL.

The lavish party honored JBL for his 242 days as WWE Champion, the longest such reign in nearly a decade.

The black tie event was complete with champagne, ice sculptures, a five-piece orchestra, and included an oil painting of the champ himself as a gift from his Cabinet.

But it didn’t take long for the celebration to turn into a confrontation.

John Cena, JBL’s opponent at WrestleMania 21, along with Big Show, the man JBL narrowly defeated in a Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match at No Way Out four days earlier, both crashed the party.

After a major brawl subsided, and the party was ultimately ruined, SmackDown! General Manager Theodore Long made a tag team match for the main event, featuring JBL & Jordan vs. Show & Cena.

Show & Cena worked together to win the main event, as an already injured JBL was now insulted on his special night.

Speaking of Mr. Long, the SmackDown! General Manager retained his job. Linda McMahon, representing the Board of Directors, announced via satellite that all of Long’s actions were in the best interest of the fans.

Petition-happy Carlito, who was in the ring for the announcement, was furious.

Meanwhile, Kurt Angle won another round of the Angle Invitational. But when Tazz confronted the Olympic Champ about whether he would accept Shawn Michaels’ challenge for a match at WrestleMania, Angle threw down the mic without saying a word.

In tag team action, Eddie Guerrero & Rey Mysterio retained their WWE Tag Team Championship in a re-match with the Bashams.

Also, Chavo Guerrero defended his Cruiserweight Championship against Funaki. Paul London stormed the ring after the match, still apparently upset that Chavo used the ropes to secure the victory at No Way Out.

Undertaker defeated both Mark Jindrak & Luther Reigns in a Double Jeopardy Match. After Taker made Jindrak tap out to a triangle choke hold, Reigns and Jindrak exchanged words and punches, blaming each other for the loss.
