KANSAS CITY, Mo. – SmackDown’s Kane and Mark Henry faced off last Friday, in
Henry’s first action since his loss to Undertaker four weeks ago. The Big Red
Monster, meanwhile, was coming off his second appearance on ECW on Sci Fi, when
the World’s Strongest Man and The Great Khali interrupted his match with Big
Daddy V. Kane defeated the self-proclaimed Silverback with a chokeslam, and the
fiery Superstar hopes to carry that momentum when he again invades the Land of
the Extreme this Tuesday night. The four behemoths are set to meet in a Monster
Mash Battle Royal with each hoping to be named the true monster of
sports-entertainment on the eve of Halloween.
Cruiser-baited
After facing The Great Khali and Undertaker in consecutive weeks, cruiserweight
Jamie Noble hoped that his sweet-talking ways would soften Acting General
Manager Vickie Guerrero’s decision-making. Noble’s attempts appeared to be
working, until Guerrero informed him he had a match with the World Heavyweight
Champion, Batista. The distraught Noble reluctantly made his way to the ring to
face the champion, and The Animal wasted little time in decimating his
overmatched opponent. Delivering a vicious Batista Bomb to Noble for the
victory, the World Heavyweight Champion now heads toward his Cyber Sunday
showdown with Undertaker.
Changing faces
Jesse & Festus continued their remarkable streak since debuting on SmackDown,
defeating the team of Joe Hennig & Steve Fender. Once again, when the bell
sounded to begin the match, Festus transformed from the reserved Superstar our
fans are accustomed to seeing, into a monstrously intense in-ring competitor.
Picking up another impressive win, the “Biscuits ‘n’ Gravy” tandem keeps their
undefeated streak alive on SmackDown.
Trash-talking
The 2007 WWE Diva Search Finalists Brooke and Eve made a very special appearance
on SmackDown, and each took the opportunity to tell our fans why they shouldn’t
vote for the other. The 2007 Diva Search winner will be announced Monday on Raw.
Triple-threatened
As part of the new working partnership between SmackDown’s Acting GM Vickie
Guerrero and ECW’s Armando Estrada, the three ECW Superstars who you can vote to
be CM Punk’s opponent at Cyber Sunday were in a Triple Threat Match on
SmackDown. Big Daddy V, John Morrison and The Miz all hope to be part of the ECW
Championship Match this Sunday, and Friday night was their last chance to
campaign for your votes. The Dominating Force in WWE defeated Morrison and Miz
to claim the victory, but will that translate into a golden opportunity for Big
Daddy V?
All for one, one for all
Partnered up for the very first time, Cyber Sunday opponents Rey Mysterio &
Finlay seemed to momentarily put aside their differences when they faced the WWE
Tag Team Champions (and Cyber Sunday opponents) Matt Hardy & MVP. But as
Mysterio was about to pick up the victory, the Irishman showed his true
intentions and double-crossed the Master of the 619, allowing the Ballin’
Superstar to take full advantage of the opening.
Wrestling God goes six feet under
Last week, JBL found himself the recipient of a spear from World Heavyweight
Champion Batista after calling The Animal a coward. This week, the SmackDown
commentator looked to interview The Phenom about the Batista-Undertaker showdown
at Cyber Sunday, a match in which you choose JBL, Mick Foley or “Stone Cold”
Steve Austin as the special guest referee. Instead, the former champion JBL
berated The Deadman, reminding him of their rivalry from JBL’s in-ring days.
Undertaker chokeslammed the self-proclaimed “Wrestling God,” but then his Cyber
Sunday opponent Batista came out to deliver a message of his own to Undertaker
