Smackdown

SmackDown! kicked off from Boston with a bang, as the Road Dogg made his way to the ring to face Chris Jericho. Prior to the start of the match, Y2J used the microphone to run down Chyna, his opponent at Armageddon… a course of action that brought the Ninth Wonder of the World out to provide color commentary for the bout! Jericho and the Dogg finally locked up, with Y2J apparently taking a pinfall victory, a decision that was quickly reversed when Chyna informed the referee that the D-O-Double G's foot was on the ropes. The bout was restarted, and this time the degenerate prevailed, much to the dismay of Chris Jericho.

Federation cameras then went backstage, where the entire McMahon family was discussing the situation with Stephanie and Triple H. Test then entered the room, asking to speak privately with Vince's only daughter. Once the room had cleared, Test tearfully broke off his engagement to Stephanie, with McMahon returning her diamond engagement ring to the superstar. The moment was ruined by X-Pac, who burst into the room at a most emotional wrenching moment.

Tag team competition was next on SmackDown!, as Kurt Angle teamed with Steve Blackman to take on the Dudley Boyz. The Angle/Blackman union was rather strained, especially in light of the fact that the two superstars are facing off at Armageddon! The more-experienced pairing of the Dudley Boyz wound up taking the victory in the match, with Buh Buh Ray pinning Blackman after 3D. After the contest, Angle announced that he was still undefeated in the Federation, laying out Blackman with a brutal takedown maneuver.

SmackDown! then took us to a nightclub where Too Cool and Rikishi "Phatu" were mingling with their peeps!

The enigmatic Christian then got a shot at winning European gold as he faced off against the Bulldog in a faced-paced match. The champion tried to use his superior strength to try and slow down Christian, but the challenger actually managed to take the advantage in the match! It looked like a new champion was about to be crowned, but the Mean Street Posse ran into the ring to spoil things. Luckily for Christian, Val Venis and D'Lo Brown showed up to even the sides.

Next up, Kevin Kelly interviewed Miss Kitty backstage regarding her match at Armageddon. When it became clear that Kelly didn't think much of Kitty's chances, she bared her claws, attacking the interviewer and ripping the shirt off of his back.

We then returned to the "Too Cool" Nightclub, where Scotty Too Hotty was tearing up the dance floor.

Another tag team bout saw the Big Boss Man (fresh off of humiliating the Big Show once again on RAW) and Prince Albert teaming up to take on the Hardy Boyz. The contest had barely begun when the Big Show appeared to attack the Boss Man. Were it not for a timely save by Prince Albert, the Boss Man may have been utterly destroyed by the Federation Champion!

Bestselling author Mick Foley then came to ringside to face off against his former best friend Al Snow. Any past relationship between the superstars was cast aside, as the contest was unbelievably brutal. Eventually, Mick laid out Snow, but he found himself unable to deliver a final, decisive blow. Snow had no such qualms, recovering enough to attack Mick with a steel chair and earn a disqualification.

It was then time for the contract signing between Triple H and Vince McMahon to finalize their contest at Armageddon. Triple H made it clear that he was going to destroy McMahon at the Pay-Per-View and that he eagerly anticipated the continuation of his nuptials with Stephanie. He also made clear his disdain for the rest of the McMahon family, heaving Shane off of the top of the ramp, sending him crashing down to the arena floor below!

DX continued to make its presence felt, as X-Pac squared off against Test in singles competition. Test definitely had an ax to grind with the degenerate, especially in light of 'Pac's actions earlier in the night. Unfortunately for Test, his passion didn't help him in the bout, as he fell victim to a low blow and an X-Factor!

Once again, SmackDown! returned to the nightclub, with Grandmaster Sexy and Rikishi taking their turns on the dance floor. Unfortunately, the fun was interrupted by the Hardcore Hollys, who appeared from nowhere to attack Rikishi!

Finally, The Rock returned to Boston, this time to lock horns with Mr. Ass! The People's Champ took the fight to his opponent, laying the smack down on the degenerate. The action was so intense that the referee was accidentally caught in the middle and was inadvertently laid out! This opened the window for Mr. Ass to turn the tables… a short-lived advantage, as The Rock regained control, taking the win after hitting the People's Elbow.

Backstage, Linda McMahon revealed that she couldn't find her husband, a fact that caused her great concern!

The main event of the evening saw Triple H facing off against Kane! Prior to the start of the match, the champion apparently broke referee Earl Hebner's leg after the senior official dared to stand up to Triple H. Throughout the match, referees dressed in Vince McMahon masks made their way into the ring, each time being laid out by the degenerate. These distractions served to give the advantage to Kane, who seemed to be constantly on the verge of defeating the champ. Eventually, Triple H bailed from the ring, heading up the ramp… and into the path of another Vince impersonator, this one armed with a makeshift club. All four members of DX fell before this "Vince," setting the stage for Armageddon this Sunday!
