William Regal started his main career out in WCW in the early 1990's under the name of Steven Regal in the early 1990's. He had great success, winning the TV championship on a few occasions. He had many great technical wrestling matches. He wrestled singularly, but on occasion he would join forces with other fellow Brits and wrestle in tag matches.

In 1998 he left WCW for WWE and became known as Steven Regal - a Man's Man, who would come out in a plaid shirt with a hard hat and had ridiculous promos promoting him. It was a disastrous gimmick for him and he quickly went back to WCW. But this was short-lived in WCW. He wrestled as a team with other British men while he was there.

Back in WWE, he used another name: William Regal. He had more success this time than his previous stint in WWE. He won the Intercontinental Championship and later the Tag Team Championship when he joined up with the Un-Americans with Lance Storm, who were first drafted to RAW, but defected to Smackdown! Before winning the championship, he was commissioner for RAW and he also used to accompany Tajiri to ringside.
