AEW Full Gear
Jacksonville, Florida
November 7, 2020
Tony Schiavone and Excalibur were the commentators for the Buy In
portion of FULL GEAR.
The Buy-In Preshow kicked off with NWA World Women’s Champion Serena
Deeb putting her title up against former champ Allysin Kay!
“Deeb won the title and defended it the next night on DYNAMITE,”
said Excalibur.
“Yeah, that says a lot about her work ethic,” replied Tony
Schiavone.
Deeb got a top wristlock and drove Kay to the mat. These two women
were former tag partners, so they’re very familiar with one another,
noted the commentators. Deeb wrenched Kay’s knee with a dragon screw
leg lock. Deeb attempted the Serenity Lock but Kay grabbed the
bottom rope, forcing a ref break. Kay hammered the champ after a
double leg takedown, then followed up with overhand chops. Deeb
blasted Kay with a hanging neck breaker from the middle rope. Kay
rallied back with a big boot to Deeb for a near fall on the champ.
Kay escaped a flying octopus hold from Deeb by planting her with a
powerbomb type maneuver! Kay nailed Deeb with a spinebuster for a
two-count. Kay went for her AK-47 but Serena Deeb rolled out of the
ring. Deeb got back in the ring and went back to working over Kay’s
knee. Deeb applied the Serenity Lock, forcing Kay to tap out!
Thunder Rosa came to the ring after the match, pointing at Deeb’s
championship, staking her claim for a rematch against Deeb!
Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur were the broadcast team for
the main card.
Impact’s Don Callis joined them for the opening match…
The Finals of the AEW World Championship Eliminator
Tournament—“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Kenny Omega!
“I saw Page about ten minutes ago and he looked a bit edgy…maybe
that’s good. I don’t see that as a weakness,” said Jim Ross.
Kenny offered a handshake but Page ignored it. Kenny went for a
V-Trigger but Page dodged it and chopped “the Cleaner” right in the
throat. Kenny caught page with a snap-rana. Page booted back at
Kenny and followed up with a fallaway slam!
“Page has a power advantage, but Kenny’s power comes from his
ability to explode,” noted Don Callis, who called many of Kenny’s
great matches in Japan.
The match quickly escalated to the arena floor. Page sent Kenny
crashing into the barricade. Page attempted to do it again but Kenny
leapt over the barricade, landed on the retaining bar, and then
flipped back with a moonsault on Page!
They traded stiff chops, but Page knocked Kenny off the apron with a
lariat from the second turnbuckle. Kenny came back with a tope con
hiro on the “Hangman,” but it was clear that Omega’s knee was
tweaked.
“Big match experience is a key in this match, because there’s so
much anxiety in this one,” said Jim Ross.
Kenny went for a one-winged angel but Page countered it by trying
for his own. Kenny wiggled out of it and connected with a V-Trigger.
Kenny tried to powerbomb Page on the ramp, but Page took away
Omega’s momentum with his own powerbomb to Omega. He pulled Kenny
into the ring and planted Kenny with a pop-up powerbomb! Page
starched Omega with a rolling elbow but Kenny grabbed “Hangman” and
spiked him with Tiger Driver 98! Omega hit a discus lariat and then
a snapdragon suplex on Page, but Page fired back with the Dead Eye
for a two-count on “the Cleaner”! Omega fought back with a V-Trigger
hitting right on the mark, and then the One-Winged Angel, and then
he pinned Page!
“Omega is right back in the title picture with that win,” said Jim
Ross.
“Extremely physical match, and extremely important win in the career
of Kenny Omega,” added Excalibur.
Following this was “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy vs. John “4”
Silver of the Dark Order!
“John Silver rolls deep,” said Excalibur, as the Dark Order walked
out on the ramp as Silver was introduced by Justin Roberts.
Cassidy put his hands in his pockets, while Silver begged and
pleaded for him not to do it. Cassidy took down Silver with a
dropkick (with his hands in his pockets, of course). John Silver
tore the pockets out of Orange’s pants.
“He’s channeling Bugsy McGraw,” said Jim Ross.
Silver tossed Orange halfway across the ring and then posed and
flexed. Silver blocked a swinging DDT from Orange by squatting, and
then he suplexed Orange down to the mat. Silver sent Orange into the
corner with a mean Irish whip! Cassidy finally countered Silver with
a diving crossbody block and then his swinging DDT for a near fall
on Silver!
“Quicken the pace, force the powerhouse to make a mistake—Orange
Cassidy has the right idea,” said Jim Ross.
Silver gorilla pressed Cassidy with one arm! Cassidy used a
spin-doctor reversal for a near fall on Silver! He went for the
orange punch but Silver avoided it and nailed Cassidy with stiff
kicks. Silver planted Orange with the spin-doctor for a near fall!
Silver shouted out Mr. Brodie by signaling for the discus lariat,
but Orange moved and blasted him with the beach breaker, pinning
John Silver!
The Best Friends—Chuck Taylor and Trent—came out to congratulate
Orange Cassidy and celebrate with a group hug!
Our next match was for the TNT Title—Champ “The American Nightmare”
Cody Rhodes (with Brandi Rhodes, Arn Anderson, and the rest of the
Nightmare Family) vs. Darby Allin!
Darby smashed a car with a skateboard as he made his entrance. The
hood of the car had graffiti spray-painted on it that read: “The
Face of TNT.”
Cody tried to exert his athletic dominance over Darby at the start
of the match. Darby used a standing switch and then slapped Cody
Rhodes in the back of the head. Cody rolled out of the ring to reset
and get advice from Arn Anderson, who told Cody to muscle Darby
around.
From the hammerlock position, Cody hurled Darby out of the ring,
right onto the ramp! Cody upped the ante in the ring by applying a
top wristlock, and then a stomp to Darby’s left arm. Cody hip tossed
Darby and applied more pressure on Darby’s wrist with scissors. Cody
used an avalanche shoulder breaker on Darby for a two-count! Cody
tried for a moonsault but Darby was one step ahead and moved out of
the way! Darby followed up with a Yoshi Tonic for a two-count on
Cody! Frustrated, Cody crushed Darby with an avalanche CrossRhodes!
He attempted to pin Darby, but Darby’s arm was beneath the bottom
rope, out of bounds because it broke the plane, so the ref stopped
the count at two!
Cody tried for the disaster kick but Darby countered with last
supper, but Cody kicked out. Darby hit a stunner and then the coffin
drop onto Cody, but Cody kicked out at two! Darby and Cody countered
pinning attempts from one another, but Darby rolled Cody up and
scored the victory!
“You can be shocked all you want, but Darby Allin earned every bit
of this! Back and forth they went, but it was Darby in the end,”
said Tony Schiavone.
The fans chanted, “You deserve it!” and Cody Rhodes presented the
belt to Darby.
And new TNT Champion Darby Allin!
Taz distracted Darby and Cody from the ramp while “the Machine”
Brian Cage and “Absolute” Ricky Starks attacked them from behind!
Will Hobbs chased away Team Taz before they smash Darby’s arm in a
car door.
Backstage Dasha interviewed “The Natural Nightmares”—QT Marshall and
Dustin Rhodes. They announced this week on DYNAMITE they’d be facing
the Butcher and the Blade in a Bunk House Match!
Up next: for the AEW Women’s World Title—Champ Hikaru Shida placed
the gold on the line against “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose (with
Vickie Guerrero)!
Shida stunned Nyla was a frenzy of offense at the beginning of the
match! Shida chopped down “the Native Beast” with a kick to the leg
and then a running knee to Nyla’s face! Shida ran on the outside of
the ring, looking to spring off a steel chair, but Nyla hit a
clothesline. Nyla wanted to swing the chair at Shida but the ref
stopped her. As Nyla was arguing with ref Aubrey Edwards, Shida
jumped off another chair with a knee to Nyla Rose’s face. When Shida
had her back turned, Vickie Guerrero swung the Singapore cane at
Shida’s legs. Nyla chop blocked Shida in the ring! Nyla splashed
Shida’s legs for a near fall on Shida!
Nyla sat out with a senton but Shida dodged it! Shida got a
two-count on Nyla after a vertical suplex! Shida came in with a
running knee strike but Nyla blocked it! Nyla rag dolled Shida for a
two-count on the champ. Nyla hoisted Shida up and set her on the top
rope, and then jumped from the top with a knee across the back of
Shida’s head! Shida fought back with a diving dropkick to Nyla onto
the ramp, and then a missile dropkick to the “Native Beast” for a
near fall. Nyla blocked a knee strike from Shida and then
powerbombed Shida. She tried for another but Shida powered out.
Shida used an avalanche falcon arrow on Nyla for a two-count! Shida
ran into the ropes but Vickie tripped her up! Shida hit another
falcon arrow but Nyla kicked out again! After four consecutive knee
strikes, Shida managed to finish off Nyla Rose and pin her for the
three-count!
And now a tag team dream match!
AEW Tag Team Champions FTR—Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood vs.
challengers The Young Bucks—Nick & Matt Jackson!
“Matt’s ankle is not 100%,” said Jim Ross.
Despite this fact, Matt Jackson began the match for his team,
against Cash Wheeler. Cash went after Matt’s ankle numerous times
until Nick tagged in. Nick arm dragged Cash, and then the Bucks used
tandem offense on Cash. The Bucks hit double hurracanranas on FTR!
Dax went to punch Matt on the outside, but Matt moved, causing Dax’s
hand to hit the ring post instead! Doc Sampson taped up Dax’s bloody
hand. While this transpired, Cash turned on the heat on Matt,
wrenching Matt’s leg.
FTR cut the ring in half to prevent Matt from getting the tag to
Nick. Dax superplexed Matt off the top rope. Cash tried to follow up
with a splash, but Matt lifted his knees in the nick of time! Nick
tagged in and cleaned house on FTR with a bulldog clothesline combo!
“He’s taking two men on at once,” said Tony Schiavone.
Matt got the blind tag and tried for a buckle bomb on Cash, but
Matt’s leg gave out on him. FTR took advantage with an assisted
bulldog ala the Steiner brothers. The Bucks rallied back with the
3D/Twist of Fate/Swanton on Dax for a two-count!
Matt Jackson applied a sharpshooter to Dax but Dax crawled and
grabbed the ropes. Nick superkicked Dax’s injured hand. The Bucks
applied stereo sharpshooters to FTR! Matt had to let go because of
the pain from his injured leg. The Bucks nearly decapitated Dax with
the BTE Trigger but Cash broke up the pin for his team! FTR
connected with the mind breaker on Matt but Matt broke up the pin by
touching the bottom rope with his foot. They removed Matt’s boot.
Dax applied an inverted figure four and added an ankle lock for good
measure! Nick broke up the submission with a 450 splash! Cash
Wheeler superkicked Nick, sending him to the arena floor! Cash gave
Matt two middle fingers and then superkicked Matt! Cash attempted a
springboard 450 splash but Matt moved! Matt followed up with a
superkick and pinned Cash Wheeler!
And new AEW World Tag Team Champions…Nick and Matt Jackson…the Young
Bucks!
Kenny Omega came to the ring to help the Bucks celebrate.
“It’s a PWG reunion,” said Jim Ross.
“Easily an instant classic,” added Excalibur.
“That’s one we need to watch again,” replied Tony Schiavone.
The Elite Deletion Match—Matt Hardy vs. “Spanish God” Sammy Guevara!
Sammy drove up to the Hardy Compound in a golf cart. Neo 1 displayed
a hologram of Matt Hardy, and then disabled Sammy’s golf cart. Matt
Hardy squashed the golf cart with a monster truck!
“Now that is a squash job,” said Matt Hardy.
Sammy moonsaulted off the tire of the monster truck onto Matt Hardy.
Next he attacked him with a garbage can, and then rammed him
headfirst into a tree trunk! Sammy superkicked Matt on the
front lawn.
“It’s my house now. Daddy’s home!” said Sammy.
Matt caught Sammy with elbows and then bludgeoned him with rights
and lefts!
“You asked for this!” yelled Matt Hardy.
There was a wrestling ring set up on the property, and Matt
connected with a side effect, but Sammy kicked out. Matt brought a
table into the ring and set it up. Hardy powerbombed Sammy through
the table! Santana and Ortiz ambushed Hardy!
Matt Hardy grabbed a walkie talkie from underneath the ring and
signaled for assistance. Private Party heard the distress signal and
came to the aid of Hardy, evening up the odds for their mentor.
Matt and Sammy began firing Roman candles at one another from
different trenches. In the ring, Private Party—Isiah Kassidy and
Marq Quen—battled Santana and Ortiz!
Matt tried to finish off Sammy, but out of nowhere, Gangrel, an
original mentor to Matt, appeared, holding Hurricane Helms hostage.
While Matt was distracted, Sammy superkicked Hurricane Helms and
Matt Hardy!
Matt Hardy and Sammy Guevara fought inside the Dome of Deletion. The
door dropped, locking them off from everyone else. There was a ring
set up inside the Dome of Deletion. Sammy removed the turnbuckle
hooks, and began to choke out Matt with the ring ropes!
“He’s going to dismantle the entire ring,” said Tony Schiavone of
Sammy.
Sammy climbed a ladder that was set up in the ring. He crashed down
on Hardy with a swanton, putting him through a table. Hardy kicked
out at two! Hardy spiked Sammy with a twist of fate! Matt speared
Sammy from the ring apron! Sammy smacked down through a table onto
the concrete floor. The back of Sammy’s head was busted open! Matt
Hardy began to strike Sammy with a steel chair!
“You made me into what I am!” said Matt Hardy.
Matt swung the chair down at Sammy’s head, and then pinned him.
“It’s over!” said Matt Hardy.
Matt Hardy called in Private Party. They placed Sammy into a garbage
can and rolled him out of the Dome of Deletion. Private Party placed
the garbage can, containing Sammy, into the back of a pick-up truck.
“Senior Benjamin, take him away,” said Matt Hardy.
“Demo God” Chris Jericho vs. MJF (with Wardlow)—and if MJF wins, he
is allowed to join The Inner Circle!
“You don’t chant ‘Tracy Sucks!’ and you don’t call MJF ‘soft,’” said
Excalibur.
Jericho asserted himself immediately with a backdrop to MJF. He
chopped away at MJF, and then chopped away some more. MJF
clotheslined Jericho, sending him over the top rope and to the arena
floor. Jericho tried for the Judas Effect but MJF moved, and
Jericho’s elbow collided with the steel ring post!
“MJF has the opportunity of a lifetime to put Jericho away,” said
Jim Ross.
MJF stalked Jericho inside the ring, clubbing him with overhand
strikes. Jericho took MJF off his feet with a shoulder tackle.
Jericho jumped off the top with a double sledge and then the
lionsault to MJF! Jericho sent MJF crashing to the mat with a
frankensteiner off the top turnbuckle!
MJF fought out of the corner and then stomped on Jericho’s arm. MJF
wrenched the “Demo God” down, and then applied the Salt of the Earth
armbar! Jericho slipped out and hooked the Walls of Jericho onto
MJF. The submission was broken by ref Aubrey Edwards when MJF
grabbed the bottom rope. MJF used a heat seeker and then a Code
Breaker for a two-count on Jericho! MJF went for a lionsault but
Jericho countered with a Code Breaker for a near fall!
MJF blocked Jericho’s Judas Effect, countering it with the Salt of
the Earth armbar! Jericho crawled and grabbed the bottom rope, and
the ref broke the hold. As the ref had her back turned, Wardlow
tossed MJF the Dynamite diamond ring! From the ringside area, Jake
Hager threw the baseball bat over the top rope to Jericho. MJF
dropped to the mat, pretending he’d been hit with the bat by
Jericho. Aubrey Edwards turned around and saw MJF laid out on the
mat, and Jericho holding the bat. She confronted Jericho, and as
Jericho explained to Aubrey that he didn’t actually use the bat, MJF
rolled up Jericho for the pin!
Jericho raised MJF’s hand and said, “Welcome MJF and Wardlow to the
Inner Circle!”
Main Event Time—an “I Quit” Match for the AEW World Championship!
Champion Jon Moxley vs. “Mad King” Eddie Kingston!
Mox and Kingston had a slugfest, with Kingston dropping first.
Kingston got back up and puffed out his chest. Mox took down
Kingston with his ground game but Kingston bit Mox’s ear. Kingston
took Moxley over the top with a belly to belly suplex. Kingston
pulled a chair from underneath the ring, but Mox wiped him out with
a tope suicida! Mox chucked the chair at Kingston. Jon Moxley
suplexed Eddie Kingston onto the arena floor, but Kingston refused
to quit.
Kingston set up chairs in the ring, but Moxley pulled a barbed wire
baseball bat from underneath the ring. Mox bludgeoned Kingston with
the bat. Both men were bloodied by this point. Kingston connected
with two suplexes to Moxley. Kingston throttled Mox and started
choking him. Kingston removed a strand of barbed wire from the bat,
wrapped it around his fist, and blasted Mox with the spinning
backfist! Kingston applied a double wristlock, and Mox had to bite
Kingston to escape the hold.
“Man, what the hell are we watching? There’s a lot of flesh torn in
this match,” said Tony Schiavone.
Kingston was going to suplex Moxley onto the steel chairs, but
Moxley reversed it! Kingston pulled a bag of thumbtacks from under
the ring. He spread them out across the mat.
“Eddie Kingston is dead set on destruction of Jon Moxley,” said
Excalibur.
Kingston suplexed Moxley, but Moxley rocked Kingston with a vicious
lariat! Moxley tried for the Paradigm Shift but Kingston countered
with a suplex, planting Mox onto the thumbtacks! Mox wouldn’t quit!
Kingston grabbed a bottle of rubbing alcohol from Doc Sampson’s kit
at ringside. Kingston poured the rubbing alcohol over the punctured
skin of Moxley’s back! Kingston grabbed a handful of thumbtacks and
smashed them into Mox’s head! Kingston applied the bulldog choke but
Mox refused to quit. Mox countered Kingston with a spiked piledriver
and then a Paradigm Shift DDT right onto the crown of Kingston’s
head! Kingston wouldn’t quit!
Moxley grabbed a strand of barbed wire and wrapped it around his
forearm! Mox put Kingston in the bulldog choke using all his
pressure and the barbed wire, and Kingston quit the match!
And still your AEW World Champion…Jon Moxley!
“There’s only one top guy in all of pro wrestling, and for my money
it’s Jon Moxley,” said Jim Ross.
After the match, Kenny Omega walked down the ramp to the ring and
pointed at Moxley’s belt, as Kenny Omega has earned the right
tonight to challenge for Mox’s title!
