OFFICIAL TURNING POINT RESULTS - THE RETURN OF RANDY SAVAGE, NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS AND THE MOST INSANE MANEUVER IN THE HISTORY OF WRESTLING!
By: Chris “The Authority” Schultz

Sunday's Turning Point Pay-Per-View is in the history books. The epic event saw the return of The Macho Man Randy Savage to the ring to join AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy in defeating The Kings of Wrestling, new NWA World Tag Team Champions crowned as Team Canada regained the gold - and Primetime Elix Skipper pulling off possibly the craziest move in wrestling history off the top of the Six Sided Steel Cage! To the chants of "This Is Awesome!" and "Best Match Ever!", the live fans gave AMW and XXX a standing ovation after the bout. To learn which team was forced to disband, read on....

Prior to the Pay-Per-View on the preshow, The Naturals defeated Jerrelle Clark and Mikey Batts with their Natural Disaster finisher.

3 Live Kru vs. Team Canada for the NWA Tag Team Champions

Tonight’s history making show started off with a huge title match involving two of the best tag teams in TNA today. 3 Live Kru was to defend their NWA tag team titles in a rematch against the team they won them from at last month’s Victory Road Pay Per View, Team Canada. However, K-Dawg suffered an injury a couple weeks ago at the hands of the Kings of Wrestling and was not able to defend the titles, therefore fellow 3LK member and former NWA Heavyweight Champion, Ron “The Truth” Killings tagged up with his friend and teammate BG James to do the darn thing. Representing Team Canada was Eric Young and Bobby Roode accompanied by non other than Coach Scott D’Amore.

To get the party started, B Gizzle grabbed the microphone and did what he does best, and that’s getting the crowd riled up as only he can. Chants of USA filled the arena as the match got underway. It was all 3 Live Kru in the early going and looked as if James and Killings had the same chemistry that he and Konnan do. Scott D’Amore rallied the troops back and Team Canada started to build a comeback. Scott D’Amore reared his ugly head as is always the case when he is at ringside, but the Canadians had another trick up their sleeve. Just as D’Amore was distracting the referee, Johnny Devine came out of nowhere and broke the infamous hockey stick used as a flag pole right over BG James back, thus allowing Team Canada to get the victory and regain the NWA World Heavyweight Titles.

Winner: Team Canada

Cameras then shifted to the back where “The Franchise” Shane Douglas was standing by with the new Director of Authority in TNA, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Dusty told Shane that the Kings of Wrestling will get their due tonight and that the controversial footage shot at Universal Studios a couple weeks back concerning the WWE would be televised.

Kid Kash, Kazarian, and Michael Shane w/ Traci vs. Sonjay Dutt, Hector Garza, and Sonny Siaki

This huge six man tag match came as a result of the actions taken by Kash, Kazarian, and Shane last month at the Victory Road PPV. During an interview that Rowdy Roddy Piper was conducting with Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, Kid Kash came down to interrupt and ended up attacking the wrestling legend along with Kazarian and Shane. “The Original Playa from the Himalaya” Sonjay Dutt took offense to this and came down to help his childhood hero and ended up getting nailed in the skull with a coconut by Kid Kash. For weeks now, Kash has used the coconut on Hector Garza and Sonny Siaki. It was time for a little revenge.

This turned out to be an unbelievable, high octane matchup that involved 4 former NWA X Division Champions. Garza was incredible as always and pulled off a beautiful moonsault midway through the match that helped give his team the edge. Traci also became involved and jumped off the top rope attempting to hit Sonny Siaki, but “The Ace in the Hole” quickly got out of the way and she ended up hitting her teammate Kazarian. Hector Garza put the finishing touch on the match by hitting his twisting corkscrew tornado from the top rope on the motionless Kazarian for the victory.

Winner: Sonjay Dutt, Sonny Siaki, and Hector Garza

Scott Hudson was standing by in the back with the Macho Man Randy Savage who didn’t have much to say except for the fact that he wasn’t about to let The Kings of Wrestling take over TNA and ruin the chances for the young wrestlers to make a name for themselves. He said it wouldn’t happen on his watch.

After a video package was run, Scott Hudson was back standing by with X Division Champion, Petey Williams and Scott D’Amore. Petey grabbed the mic and told the people that his was not a one move wonder. Coach Scott D’Amore, who trained both Williams and Sabin, went on to say that no one knows the pupil better than the teacher. He concluded by saying that Petey Williams was a winner and that he only backs winners.

Abyss vs. “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown in a Serengeti Survival Match

This match was truly a battle of the beasts in TNA. The former NFL linebacker, Monty Brown was on the hunt to take out the monster, Abyss. Many fans were wondering if the six sided ring could hold these two powerhouses. Abyss grabbed a table from under the ring in the early going, but was unable to use it. He followed that up by bringing a steel chair into the matchup. This encounter got violent quick as Abyss placed the chair over the face of Monty Brown and executed a sit down splash on the chair that was lying on the Alpha Male’s face. Abyss was able to hit Brown with a Blackhole Slam soon thereafter, but it wasn’t enough to put him away.

Monty Brown was able to bounce back, by delivering the Pounce onto Abyss, which sent the monster flying out of the ring. The move was delivered with such force; the momentum just shot the monster Abyss right out of the ring. Towards the end of the match, Brown tried to hit him with another Pounce, but Abyss moved and The Alpha Male went crashing through the wooden table in the corner of the ring. Once the two athletes came to, they both brought their own bag of thumb tacks into the ring. Monty Brown spilled thousands of them across the canvas and then went after Abyss. He ripped the big man’s shirt off and was able to flip him right on top of the sharp tacks waiting below, thus giving him the victory in the match. Abyss was then seen screaming in pain with the tacks sticking out his back and head.

Winner: “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown

The NYC (Gilberti and Swinger) vs. the Empire Saint Pat Kenney and Johnny B Badd

Before this matchup got underway, Jacqueline came to ringside and was introduced as the special guest referee. Pat Kenney and Johnny B. Badd seemed to work really well together and gained control of the match early on, but then the NYC started to show their experience as a team. Glenn Gilberti should have paid more attention to his opponent, but instead got into it with the special guest referee Jacqueline. As we all know, it’s not wise to mess with this particular woman and she countered by slamming Gilberti on the mat. Johnny B Badd then hit the TKO on the stunned Gilberti for the victory.

Winner: Pat Kenney and Johnny B Badd

Cameras quickly shifted again to the back where they caught the Kings of Wrestling, Jarrett, Nash, and Hall, throwing the Macho Man into the backseat of a car. They shut the door and the car took off out of the arena.

Diamond Dallas Page vs. Raven

For the last month here in TNA, we have seen the return of Diamond Dallas Page to the ring, in an attempt to cost Raven his matches. The reason for this hatred stills seems a little bit blurry, but Raven was out to get his revenge on DDP for his recent actions. Before the match got underway, Erik Watts sat down at the broadcast position to join Don West and Mike Tenay. Page went right to work on Raven in the early going and looked fantastic in first match in TNA. The fight quickly went into the crowd where a trash can was used to hurt one another.

It was all DDP for the first part of the match, but then Raven got steel chair involved and the momentum quickly shifted. Page hit a Diamond Cutter out of nowhere, but Raven was able to kick out. Raven countered by hitting his Evenflow DDT on Page, but he also kicked out. Just then, two cloaked men surrounded the ring. Erik Watts could see no more and climbed in the ring to stop the mysterious individuals from getting involved. Watts quickly took care of them with some viscous choke slams and went over to help DDP up off the ground.

Once Watt’s helped Page to his feet, he hit him with a violent clothesline sending him hard to the canvas floor. Erik Watts then went to put the choke slam on Page, but he countered and got the Diamond Cutter on the Watts. Raven came to and went right after page who immediately hit him with a Diamond Cutter, and DDP pinned him for the 3 count and the victory.

Winner: Diamond Dallas Page

Chris Sabin vs. “The Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams for the NWA X Division Championship

In what might have been one of the most anticipated match ups of the evening, Chris Sabin and Petey Williams put on a wrestling clinic for the fans in attendance. Both Sabin and Williams attended the same wrestling school where they were both trained by Scott D’Amore. They graduated together and basically got their start in this business together. The once friends now came to the ring as bitter enemies. Former X Division Champion, Chris Sabin seems to have the answer to the most devastating move in professional wrestling today, The Canadian Destroyer piledriver. Would it be his night to become the X Division Champion for the 3rd time?

As far as Scott D’Amore was concerned, the answer to that question in no and he did everything in his power to ensure that by getting involved early and often in the match taking cheap shot after cheap shot on Chris Sabin. This was a fast paced, high flying, death defying encounter which definitely lived up to the hype. Petey tried to finish off the challenger by using the sharpshooter made famous by fellow Canadian, Bret Hart. Unfortunately for Williams, it wasn’t enough to finish off Sabin in the blockbuster affair.

Scott D’Amore seemed to have been the X factor in this match as he got the referees attention at the end while Petey reached into his tights and pulled out a foreign object that he used over Sabin’s forehead. Petey Williams quickly covered the unconscious Sabin and the referee turned around to count the 3, thus allowing Williams to successfully defend his title. The rest of Team Canada came down to celebrate and all raised up their shiny gold belts with pride. Could we be seeing the beginning of a dynasty?

Winner: Petey Williams

“The Kings of Wrestling” NWA Champion Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall vs. “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles, Jeff Hardy, and the Macho Man Randy Savage

Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall all came down to the ring dressed as the king. That is, the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley. All three of them seemed convinced that they were going to win the match as they strolled to the ring with confidence. Unfortunately for AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy, the Macho Man Randy Savage was nowhere to be found at the introduction to the match. The Kings of Wrestling made sure of that earlier in the program by kidnapping him.

The numbers game played as the difference throughout the entire match. Jeff Hardy and Styles suffered a beating at the hands of the Kings. However, Hardy and Styles did not give up and did everything they could to stay alive in the match. Kevin Nash took out the referee about midway through the match and while Jeff Hardy was on the top rope, Scott Hall hit him with a guitar sending him crashing right on top of Jeff Jarrett who lay motionless in the ring. He would have had a 3 count, but there was no referee.

Soon thereafter, The Macho Man Randy Savage made his way down to the ring to the screams of the crowd in the arena. Savage went right after Jarrett and the momentum of the match did a 360. Savage reversed a sleeper hold by Jarrett into one of his own, while his teammates Jeff Hardy and Styles did the same to Hall and Nash. Savage then quickly rolled up Jeff Jarrett to get the victory and seal the victory for his team.

Winner: Macho Man Randy Savage, AJ Styles, and Jeff Hardy

After the match was over, the footage of the controversial chance meeting between TNA and the WWE was shown. Shane Douglas, Abyss, Traci, BG James, Konnan, and Ron Killings were show bringing cookies and balloons to welcome them to Universal Studios. It seemed as if TNA talent was not welcome as they were only embraced by a couple of their talent.

America’s Most Wanted vs. Triple X in 6 Sides of Steel

Before I go on with the details of this match, I have to say that in the 20 + years that I have been following professional wrestling, I have seen nothing that even comes close to this epic encounter. I am proud to be associated with TNA, but even more so after watching this great match between four of the best talent I have ever seen. Nothing that I can put into words will be able to give this match justice, but here goes.

This match wasn’t just like any other on the card. AMW (Wildcat Chris Harris and Tennessee Cowboy James Storm) and Triple X (Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels and Primetime Elix Skipper) may be the best rivalry in TNA history, but the history of professional wrestling. These 2 teams share a genuine hatred for each other. They have been through many viscous encounters involving chairs, handcuffs, tables, ladders, and even a steel cage. They put on some of the best matches TNA ever broadcast, but nothing like tonight.

6 Sides of Steel and everything was on the line. Dusty Rhodes announced that the loser of the match could never wrestle as a tag team again. Once all 4 men entered the steel cage, the door was locked and the war was on. Christopher Daniels was the first to get cut open and he was bleeding uncontrollably. Daniels couldn’t let this bother him. There was so much on the line. Bragging rights on who the best tag team in TNA history being one of those things.

The match went back and forth with neither team able to take full control. However, Triple X did establish the early advantage by handcuffing Chris Harris to the cage and double teaming his partner James Storm. The momentum quickly shifted to Daniels and Skipper. The encounter got real violent and messy with blood covering the canvas floor. James Storm was somehow able to get a hold of the keys to the handcuffs and handed them to his partner. Once Harris was free, he went to work on Triple X as he was the fresh man in the ring.

Daniels and Primetime tried to end the match by hitting AMW with their own move, The Death Sentence, but Chris Harris was able to kick out. There were many near pin falls before this match got really interesting. Chris Harris was battling Daniels at the very top of the steel cage many feet off the ground. Primetime saw this and made his way to the top and did something I will never forget. He walked the tight rope across the steel cage and then hit Harris with a hurricanrana that sent both of them crashing to the ring lying way below. Then Christopher Daniels came to and hit an elbow from the very top of the cage down on Harris, but was unable to cover him due to the pain. It was at this time that I heard the fans chant “This is awesome, this is awesome, this is awesome!” I had never seen anything like it in my life. Once all 4 men regained their bearings, they all piled in the corner and were stacked up like a totem pole and all came crashing to the ground. Again, I can’t describe this, because you need to see it to believe it.

AMW was then able to turn the table on Triple X and handcuff Daniels to the cage. With the Fallen Angel looking on helplessly with a crimson face, Harris and Storm used Triple X’s own Powerplex on Primetime to seal the victory. With the canvas painted red with blood, AMW and the crowd celebrating, all I could think was how I just saw one of the best matches in my life that I will probably never see again due to the fact that Triple X is through. All 4 men gave us their blood, sweat, and tears in this memorable encounter. One word: UNBELIEVABLE! As the Pay-Per-View went off the air, members of the TNA locker room came onstage to join the fans in their ovation of the match as both sides made their way to the back.

Winner: America’s Most Wanted
