The Undertaker’s Final Farewell
Mike Rome announces that it is time for The Undertaker’s Final
Farewell.
Shane McMahon makes his way to the ring first. McMahon faced
Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 in a Hell in a Cell Match. They’ve
also been friends from the first moment Undertaker got to WWF/E.
Out next is The Big Show. Undertaker took Big Show under his wing
when he arrived in WWF in 1999 from WCW.
JBL is out next, and they refer to him as a WWE Hall of Famer
despite not having an induction ceremony. JBL is a longtime friend
of Undertaker’s and they had a long rivalry in 2004.
Jeff Hardy is the next person part of the ceremony. Undertaker put
Hardy over as a legitimate superstar in a classic ladder match on
Raw in 2002.
Mick Foley makes his way to the ring next. Foley faced the
Undertaker many times on PPV, including an all-time classic Hell in
a Cell match at King of the Ring in 1998. Long considered to be one
of Undertaker’s greatest rivals, he was part of one of the biggest
stories of Undertaker’s career when Paul Bearer turned on Undertaker
at SummerSlam in 1996.
The Godfather makes his way to the ring next. He’s a longtime friend
of the Undertaker’s.
The Godwins – Phinneus I. and Henry O. – make their way to the ring.
They’re longtime friends of Undertaker’s and part of the BSK – Bone
Street Krew. That was a backstage group formed in the mid-1990s in
response to the infamous Kliq.
Savio Vega is out next – another longtime friend of The Undertaker.
Rikishi makes his way to the ring. Rikishi is another longtime
friend and a cousin of one of Undertaker’s dearest friends, the late
Yokozuna.
Kevin Nash makes his way to the ring. Nash, as Diesel, faced The
Undertaker at WrestleMania 12 before leaving for WCW.
Booker T comes out to the ring next. When Undertaker returned to the
Dead Man character, Booker T was instrumental in selling for that
character and putting him over strong.
Shawn Michaels, who is quite possibly the greatest rival Undertaker
has ever had, is out to the ring next. HBK faced Undertaker in
back-to-back classic matches at WrestleMania 25 and 26. Undertaker
retired Shawn Michaels at WM 26 (aside from an ill-fated and
ill-conceived comeback match in 2018).
“The Nature Boy” Ric Flair comes out to the ring. Flair faced
Undertaker at WrestleMania 18 in 2002. Flair credits Undertaker for
helping him to restore his confidence after WCW broke him down.
Triple H is out next. Triple H also had an epic series of matches
against The Undertaker at WrestleMania. They had back-to-back
matches at 27 and 28 (with 28 being an epic, all-time great Hell in
a Cell Match), but people always forget that they tore the house
down at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001.
Kane makes his way to the ring next. Kane is the Undertaker’s
storyline brother, but one of his closest friends. They had a back
and forth rivalry since Kane debuted in 1997. Aside from fighting,
they also formed one of the most dominant tag teams of all time as
the Brothers of Destruction.
Video Package: The legendary career of The Undertaker with
Metallica’s “Now That We’re Dead” playing over it
Mike Rome introduces the WWE Chairman and CEO Mr. McMahon to the
ring. McMahon is standing in the middle of the ring. McMahon talks
about the three decades Undertaker has spent in WWE. Undertaker
struck fear into the hearts of everyone he faced and entertained the
many fans of the WWF and WWE. This history will never be duplicated.
McMahon gets emotional as he says, “So tonight we say… we say
‘goodbye.’ They say nothing lasts forever. I think they’re wrong
because the legacy of the Undertaker will live on eternally. So now
I give you the Dead Man, the Phenom… ladies and gentlemen… THE
UNDERTAKER!”
The bell tolls and the lights go out. Fireballs light up the stage
and surround the WWE ThunderDome. An electronic version of the Dead
Man’s theme plays, which sounds like an old school video game. It’s
supposed to be the thunder making that noise. The bell tolls again
and we see more fire. The actual theme of the Undertaker plays now…
and for the final time the legendary “Undertaker” Mark Calaway makes
his way to the ring in full costume. Undertaker makes his slow walk
down the ramp and goes to the corner of the ring. A platform raises
him up, and he raises his arms up as more fireballs set off.
Undertaker stands in the ring and piped in “Undertaker” chants play
in the WWE ThunderDome. Undertaker looks around the arena and just
soaks it in.
“For 30 long years, I’ve made that slow walk to this ring and have
laid people to rest time and time again. And now, my time has come.”
A “Thank you, Taker” chant picks up.
“My time has come to let The Undertaker rest… in… peace.”
Another “Thank you, Taker” chant fires up on the loudspeakers in the
arena. Undertaker drops down to a knee and Paul Bearer’s, “OHHH
YESSS” is heard. A hologram of Paul Bearer holding the urn is shown
next to the kneeling Undertaker. What an amazing tribute to the
late, great William Moody.
The bell tolls numerous times as the Undertaker continues to kneel
in the ring. The music plays, and Undertaker gets to his feet.
Undertaker does the famous throat slash taunt and walks around the
ring. Undertaker then exits through the ring ropes and closes the
door on a legendary active career. Undertaker walks up the ramp,
