Raw is War

Long Island, New York
April 5, 1999

The Tag Team Championship was up for grabs as RAW kicked off from Nassau Coliseum on Long Island, New York. X-Pac had apparently lobbied Commissioner Michaels to sign the match--X-Pac and Kane against champions Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart. X-Pac was in on his own for a full ten minutes, and he absorbed as much punishment as he dished out. Owen Hart came flying off the top rope, but X-Pac got his foot up and Owen's head bashed right into it. X-Pac recovered enough to tag the Big Red Machine, who came in and cleaned house. After chokeslamming Jarrett, Kane grabbed his tag team partner as if he was going to chokeslam him. But instead, he picked him up and dropped him onto Jarrett. The referee administered the three count, and X-Pac and Kane became the new Tag Team Champions!

Backstage, four police officers stood guard in Mr. McMahon's room. Mr. McMahon was with Stephanie, and he told Shane that his only concern was to protect Stephanie--he did not care what happened during the show. In charge, Shane gathered up the Corporation and marched to the ring. On HEAT, Shane had promised a surprise for Paul Wight, and on RAW he delivered. He ordered The Big Show to take on both The Rock and Triple H in a Handicap Match! Further, Shane ordered the television crew to put up Stone Cold Steve Austin's custom-made championship belt on the Titan Tron, in an effort to get under the skin of the Rattlesnake.

Sick and tired of the antics of PMS, Ivory called out Terri Runnels. Terri finally answered, and when she got to the ring, Ivory ripped the shirt right off her back! Terri was completely topless, but unfortunately for the male fans in attendance, the lights went out.

The Ministry of Darkness emerged from the back and walked to the ring. The Undertaker promised there would be a sacrifice on RAW, and it would be a woman that would "break her father's heart." Backstage, Mr. McMahon, assuming the Lord of Darkness was talking about Stephanie, ordered the stooges to go get more security. He told Shane, "I may have to give that S.O.B. what he wants."

Al Snow took on Hardcore Holly in a match with standard rules--the Hardcore Championship was not on the line. Snow finished off Holly with a Snow Plow, and after the match JR and "Dr. Death" Steve Williams came out. "Dr. Death" attacked both men and hit them both repeatedly with his patented overhead suplex.

Backstage, cameras picked up the Undertaker whipping Christian, apparently disciplining the Brood member for revealing the whereabouts of Stephanie to Ken Shamrock last week on RAW.

The other two members of the Brood, Gangrel and Edge, took on the New Age Outlaws. After being flogged by the Undertaker, Christian walked down to the ring near the end of the match. As the Road Dogg and Gangrel battled outside the ring, the Road Dogg threw Christian into the ring, and Billy Gunn dropped him with the Fame-Ass-Er. Apparently unaware that it was Christian, the referee administered the three count, and the New Age Outlaws got the win.

Backstage, Jim Ross interviewed Stone Cold Steve Austin. The Rattlesnake promised that if Shane put the custom-made title on the Titan Tron one more time, "it was going to cost the McMahon family a lot of money."

In a match pitting the Ministry against the Corporation, Viscera took on Ken Shamrock. With Shamrock in control, the lights went out and all the members of the Ministry brutally attacked the "World's Most Dangerous Man," while the Undertaker stood atop the entranceway. Apparently the Ministry was getting its revenge for last week-when Shamrock found Stephanie McMahon. The Ministry knocked Shamrock unconscious, dragged him backstage, stuffed him in the trunk of a car and drove away. Meanwhile, Shane ordered the Corporation not to go to Shamrock's aid, as Shane suspected the Ministry might have been setting a trap.

As popular as Val Venis is with the fans, Mankind was clearly the fan favorite when he took on the Big Valbowski in front of a hometown crowd in Long Island. As the crowd chanted "Foley! Foley!" and "We want Socko!" the Deranged One finished off Val with a double arm DDT and a Mandible Claw, featuring Mr. Socko.

The Federation's resident pimp, the Godfather, had his big shot at the Intercontinental Championship as he took on Goldust. After being distracted by the Blue Meanie, the Godfather took the fight outside the ring, and both he and Goldust were counted out.

Undertaker had promised that a young girl would be sacrificed, and the Ministry did in fact drag a young woman out and tie her to the Undertaker's symbol. It turned out to be Ryan Shamrock, and since the Ministry had kidnapped Ken, there was no one to help Ryan. Undertaker admitted that it wasn't the girl he had in mind, but when he looked into Ryan's eyes, he saw Stephanie. Backstage, Mr. McMahon was furious, and he screamed "you leave Stephanie alone you evil bastard!"

In the final match of the night, Triple H and The Rock teamed up for a Handicap Match against Paul Wight. The match ended when Chyna came in and gave a low blow to The Big Show just before Wight could slam Triple H with a chokeslam. The Rock, Triple H, Chyna and Shane quadruple teamed The Big Show, finally getting him off his feet. But Stone Cold Steve Austin came out and together with Wight fought off the Corporation. Shane tried once again to make Austin mad by putting his custom-made title on the Titan Tron. Austin told JR earlier that if Shane put that title on the Titan Tron again, he would make the McMahon family pay. And Austin did exactly that. He and Wight walked toward the Titan Tron and The Big Show single handedly pulled the Titan Tron down to the ground! The Rattlesnake grabbed a couple cutting utensils and as he and Wight shared a couple beers, Austin cut down the Titan Tron!
