Smackdown!

Hartford Civic Center, Hartford, Connecticut
May 10, 2001

As the May 10 episode of SmackDown! kicked off from the Hartford Civic Center in Connecticut, Chris Jericho battled Christian. Edge accompanied his brother to the ring, so just as the match was set to begin, Chris Benoit strolled to ringside to even the odds. After Edge tripped up Jericho as Y2J went for the Lionsault, Benoit attacked Edge, and the two went at it at ringside. In the melee, Christian tossed Y2J into Edge, and Christian then rolled Jericho up for the pinfall!

The Undertaker arrived at the arena, only to be approached by Mr. McMahon. The World Wrestling Federation chairman said he wasn't looking for trouble -- actually, he was looking to avoid it. He told the American Badass that Stone Cold Steve Austin was already at the arena, and warned the Dead Man that any physicality between him and the Rattlesnake could cost Taker his Federation Championship match at Judgment Day. Mr. McMahon asked Undertaker if he was cool, and Taker replied, "Yeah, boss -- I'm Cool and the Gang!"

Moments later, Taker asked a backstage technician if he had seen Stone Cold. The technician told the Dead Man that he had seen Austin right around the corner. Taker said he had something for Austin -- and then took out a chain!

After their paths crossed last Thursday on SmackDown! and last Monday on RAW IS WAR, Raven took on Albert in a one-on-one battle. X-Pac and Justin Credible of X-Factor provided color commentary for the bout.

The monstrous Albert defeated Raven following a Baldobomb.

Brandishing the chain, the Undertaker barged into Stone Cold's dressing room, but the Rattlesnake was nowhere to be found. The Taker said he would sit in Austin's locker room and wait for him to arrive.

Moments later, Stone Cold was seen in Mr. McMahon's locker room, yelling at McMahon and Debra that Undertaker had no right being in his locker room. Austin said that if it wasn't for Taker's chain, he would go in and get his stuff. Mr. McMahon promised to think of something.

Spike Dudley and Molly Holly walked backstage, and Molly told Spike how impressed she was when he put Albert through a table on RAW. Crash approached the two, and he didn't seem happy that Spike was talking to his cousin! Crash challenged Spike to meet him in the ring later in the night on SmackDown!

The Undertaker was going through Stone Cold's stuff when a delivery man walked in with a cooler full of beers! The delivery man said he was looking for Austin, and Taker said he was in the right place, only this was no longer Stone Cold's locker room -- it was now his yard! Taker promised the delivery man that the Rattlesnake would get every single beer. An irate Rattlesnake watched on, steaming at Taker's actions.

Coach interviewed Triple H backstage, and the Game said that his business relationship with Rikishi was now officially over. Triple H said that no one puts his hands on Stephanie.

Coach then reminded the Game that Rikishi hadn't put his hands on Stephanie -- and the Game chased Coach away, irate that Coach had brought up the Stink Face!

In six-person tag action, the Hardy Boyz and Lita took on the Goodfather, Bull Buchanan, and Ivory of the Right to Censor. The Right to Censor did not have Steven Richards at ringside, as the group is apparently looking for a new leader! As the match got underway, Eddie Guerrero strolled out to the stage, and moments later, he tripped up Bull, allowing Matt to hit the Twist of Fate and pinfall.

In Mr. McMahon's locker room, the Federation chairman suggested to Stone Cold that there was only one person who could safely go into the Rattlesnake's locker room and get his stuff -- Debra! Stone Cold said that was the best idea he'd heard all day, and he told his wife to go to his locker room and get his stuff.

Moments later, Debra entered Stone Cold's locker room, where she politely asked the Taker to leave. The Dead Man refused, and said he had a message for Debra to give her husband. He then spat tobacco juice all over Debra!

Looking to gain a measure of revenge after Rikishi gave Stephanie a Stink Face on RAW, Triple H took on the 400-pounder on SmackDown! Prior to the bout, Stephanie said that Rikishi had made her look ridiculous on RAW, and a woman in her position couldn't afford to look ridiculous. She promised that Triple H would make Rikishi look ridiculous on SmackDown!

Rikishi laughed at the Billion-Dollar Princess as he walked to the ring.

With Rikishi prone, Triple H held the 400-pounder so that Stephanie could slap him. Moments later, Test ran to the ring to attack Triple H, and Big Show followed soon after to assault Test. A melee ensued, and it looked like Rikishi was going to give Stephanie another Stink Face! But Rikishi became sidetracked with the Big Show, and Triple H saved his wife. Rikishi still got to back that ass up, though -- after a savate kick and an avalanche, the Big Show was easy prey for the Stink Face! Test and Rikishi just laughed as an irate Big Show left the ring!

An incensed Debra told Stone Cold and Mr. McMahon how the Undertaker had spat tobacco all over her, and Austin told McMahon that sending her in was the dumbest idea he's ever heard! Mr. McMahon said he had another idea -- a superstar in mind who could get Taker out of the locker room.

In the parking area, Stephanie and Triple H got into a limo and left the arena -- Stephanie said she was absolutely petrified of getting another Stink Face.

In a grudge match set up earlier in the evening, Spike Dudley took on Crash Holly. Bubba Ray and D-Von accompanied Spike to the ring, while Hardcore and Molly Holly were behind Crash. Spike would pick up the win, surprising Crash with a roll-up. Crash was livid after the match, as Spike's win seemed to come from nowhere!

Mr. McMahon walked back into his locker room with Commissioner William Regal.

McMahon and Austin tried to convince Regal to get Taker out of Austin's locker room, and it seemed that Regal didn't want to! Finally, Mr. McMahon convinced Regal that Taker would listen to reason, and Regal agreed to try and talk to the Dead Man.

Moments later, Regal was about to knock on the door to Austin's locker room, but he kept stopping himself from doing so.

Next up, Edge took on Chris Benoit, and the sides were even once again -- Edge was seconded by Christian, and Benoit was seconded by Jericho. The referee was soon knocked out, so there was no one to see Edge tap out to Benoit's Crossface. In fact, at the same time that was happening in the ring, Jericho had Christian locked in the Walls of Jericho on the entranceway! Taking advantage of the situation, Kurt Angle attacked Benoit, nailing him with an Olympic slam. Three seconds later, Edge had pinned Benoit, and E&C had gone 2-0 on the night!

Undertaker was drinking one of Austin's beers when Commissioner Regal came into the locker room. Regal told Undertaker that he was tresspassing, and that he should go and apologize to Debra. The Dead Man responded by pouring his entire cup of tobacco juice onto Regal's head!

Lilian Garcia interviewed Rhyno about his Hardcore Title defense against Bradshaw on SmackDown! Rhyno said he was a hardcore man in a hardcore world, and he promised to defeat the tough Texan.

Back in Stone Cold's dressing room, the Undertaker snapped, and started throwing stuff around.

He then put on one of Austin's vests and wrapped a chain around his fist, saying that if Austin wouldn't come to him, then he would track him down.

In a bout for the Hardcore Championship, Rhyno defended against Bradshaw. The wicked, brutal encounter ended in the backstage area, when Big Show chokeslammed Bradshaw through a platform onto the concrete floor, allowing Rhyno to score the pin and retain his title.

Wearing Austin's vest and Federation Championship, and carrying his chain, the Undertaker then walked to the ring. Taker said that all he wanted to find out on SmackDown! was whether Stone Cold Steve Austin was a man. The Dead Man asked if Stone Cold was finally ready to meet him face-to-face -- and get his ass kicked.

As Taker waited, out came Mr. McMahon. The Federation chairman said that Stone Cold was twice the man Taker was. He said Austin didn't need a weapon, and said that if Taker was a real man, he would take the chain from around his neck and throw it out of the ring. Taker said that if that's what it would take to get Austin down, he would get rid of the chain.

Mr. McMahon also made sure to confiscate the Federation Championship -- just in case Taker was to use it as a weapon -- and all the steel chairs from ringside. Mr. McMahon said it was now time for the fans to see Undertaker get his ass kicked -- and suddenly, Stone Cold walked down to ringside!

The Taker and the Rattlesnake exchanged blows in the ring, and with Taker in control, Mr. McMahon got in the ring and smacked the Dead Man with a steel chair! It was a set-up! Unfortunately for McMahon, however, the Taker just shrugged the chairshot off, and then gave the Federation chairman a chokeslam!

With Taker distracted, Austin attacked, and was about to tear into the Dead Man with a chair. But suddenly, the arena was filled with fire and red light, and Kane returned! Austin was soon trapped between Taker and Kane, and he ran into the crowd to get away from the Brothers of Destruction! Taker and Kane celebrated their family reunion as SmackDown! went off the air!
