Shane McMahon kicks off the show in Lexington

Big reaction for Shane. He knows everyone bleeds blue here in Kentucky. Shane is aware of two superstars who don’t. He says these two superstars betrayed the entire Smackdown team. Shane says he was about to fire those two – Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn – as they admitted to having no respect for WWE authority or any of the fans. He brings up Daniel Bryan having another idea to book them in a Lumberjack match. Shane figured he would fire them both afterwards, but that didn’t happen. He introduces the Smackdown GM.

Daniel Bryan heads to the ring to a big reaction from Lexington. Bryan shakes hands with Shane and grabs a mic. A loud “DANIEL BRYAN” chant starts up. Bryan talks about believing in second changes involving Owens and Zayn. He admits they should have never interfered in the Survivor Series main event. Bryan says Shane’s temperament can get the better of him at times. Shane admits this, but reminds Bryan that Owens beat up his father in this ring, Zayn got involved in his Hell in a Cell match and they betrayed the entire roster.

Bryan says they did those things in the name of competition. “I see real talent. If we fire them, ultimately, they are just going to end up on Monday Night RAW.” Shane is fine with that and how it will become Stephanie McMahon’s problem. Bryan says he was left in charge last week and he took this job because he was under the impression Shane didn’t want a “yes” man. He thinks he’s the guy for Shane if he wants to utilize the best possible talent right here on Smackdown Live. “I just need you to trust me,” adds Bryan. Shane says he does trust Bryan and brings up booking Owens vs. Randy Orton tonight. He wants to add to that idea a little bit. Shane is barring Zayn from ringside and the match is now under No DQ rules. Shane shakes hands with Bryan as they continue to talk off mic.
