Smackdown!

Uniondale, New York
October 7, 1999

Before SmackDown! got underway, a special video tribute was aired honoring the life of Gorilla Monsoon, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 62.

SmackDown! got underway with X-Pac and Kane taking on Mideon and Viscera. For the second time this week, X-Pac started off the match and refused to tag the Big Red Machine. But Kane tagged himself into the match, dropkicked Viscera outside the ring, and then chokeslammed Mideon for the victory. After the match, X-Pac appeared angered and got right in Kane's face, but the conversation was interrupted by the Acolytes, who laid out both superstars.

Backstage, Kevin Kelly interviewed The Rock, who said that there were only two things that the British Bulldog could do about his impending ass-kicking at No Mercy: nothing, and like it. The Rock turned his attention to Val Venis, who had stuffed Rocko, a sock with The Rock's likeness on it, into his pants. The Rock promised that later on SmackDown!, he would lay the smack down on the adult film star.

So happy was Mankind that The Rock was supposedly willing to fight his battles, that the Deranged One said he's return the favor and take on the Bulldog on SmackDown!

With their respective tag team partners at ringside, the Road Dogg took on Hardcore Holly in singles competition. Road Dogg appeared to have the match won, but Crash ran into the ring and was quickly pulled out and pummeled by Mr. Ass. However, Road Dogg was distracted and Hardcore finished him off with what looked to be a Snow Plow. Hardcore and Crash bragged at the commentators' table about their victory, but the Outlaws came from behind and put a beating on their No Mercy opponents!

Earlier in the day, "Sexual Chocolate" Mark Henry went to his first therapy session for his sexual addiction. He admitted that he had his first sexual encounter when he was eight -- with his sister! And he further admitted that he continues to have relations with her.

Next up, it was time for the third match in the best-of-five Terri Runnels Invitational. Terri came out and said she wanted to stir things up a little bit, so she announced that this match would be held under Texas Tornado Rules Match, meaning all four superstars would be in the ring simultaneously. Edge and Christian looked like they had the match won after they hit their stacked-up superplex on Matt, but Jeff came out of nowhere and hit Christian with a Centon bomb. After tossing Edge out of the ring, the New Brood covered Christian and got their first win in the tournament. However, Christian and Edge still have the lead in the series at 2-1.

Then it was time for a mud-wrestling match! Jeff Jarrett had announced earlier that he had finally found a place for the women of the Federation -- mud wrestling! Therefore, he ordered Miss Kitty to take on Ivory in a match where the first woman to strip the top off her opponent wins! After doing just that to Miss Kitty, Ivory was declared the winner. After the match, Fabuloh Moolah and Mae Young appeared, and Jarrett dumped them into the mud. Jarrett continued his tirade about the inferiority of women until Chyna appeared and kicked Jarrett into the mud! Moolah and Mae put a beating on the Intercontinental Champion.

Shane McMahon announced that Stephanie McMahon is improving, but her wedding with Test has been postponed until she fully recovers. When Michael Hayes asked Shane about the British Bulldog's recent comments, Shane walked away in disgust.

In the next match, the Bulldog and Mankind battled all over the ring area, and in his quest to prove himself, the Bulldog put the beating of a lifetime on Mankind. After the referee was inadvertently knocked out, the match ended, but the fight didn't. The two superstars battled through the crowd.

Footage was shown of Stone Cold Steve Austin hunting with Jim Ross in Texas. Austin promised he would get revenge at the aptly titled No Mercy for the beating he took from Triple H at SummerSlam. To symbolize his point, Austin fired shots at several pumpkins with photos of Triple H attached to them.

In singles competition, the Big Show took on the Big Boss Man. The former corrections officer got himself disqualified when he used a nightstick and then tried to handcuff his opponent. But the handcuffs simply wouldn't fit around the Show's wrists, so the Boss Man got a chokeslam to go along with his loss by disqualification.

Meanwhile, back at the arena, Triple H entered a room full of snakes. He said he wasn't afraid of snakes, not even a Rattlesnake. He said that at No Mercy he would finish the job that he started at SummerSlam. He emphasized his point but putting a rattlesnake in a burlap bag and clobbering it with his sledgehammer.

Finally, it was time for The Rock to go one on one with Val Venis in a no-holds-barred match. Val had claimed before the match that he was the fastest-rising star in sports-entertainment, and he backed up that claim, giving The Rock a more difficult challenge than the "Great One" probably expected. In an attempt to pull off the major upset, Val grabbed a steel chair, but Mankind came from the back and took it away. He wound up to bash the adult film star, but Val grabbed The Rock and Mankind inadvertently struck his fellow Rock 'n' Sock Connection member. However, the "Great One" was somehow able to kick out. Once he recovered physically from the chairshot, The Rock was flat-out pissed off. He dropped Mankind with a Rock Bottom, and then did the same for Val, covering him for the pin. After the match, Mankind and the People's Champion exchanged heated words, and Mankind tossed away his Rock 'n' Sock Connection jacket as SmackDown! came to a dramatic end.
